Trim your nails!
Long nails are a hazard for you and the individuals drilling and rolling with you! Take care of your team and yourself by keeping your nails trimmed down.
Cover any open wounds.
If you have an open wound, it will come in contact with the mats or another student’s body. It is important to cover these wounds with a band aid and secure throughout it training to avoid spread of germs.
Wash your gi and no-gi attire.
It is very important not to procrastinate washing your gear after training. You must wash your gear consistently to avoid excessive odor and bacteria build up!
Remove jewelry.
Jewelry on the mats is dangerous for you and your training partners. It can be ripped out or cut another person. Please remove your jewelry if possible.
Tie your hair back.
If you have long hair, please secure it back so it stays out of the way of you and the other students.
Wear deodorant.
Just do it.
Shower after class.
Staff infections are real. Showering after class will lessen your chances of contracting staff or other skin-contact illnesses.
Wear sandals/ slides off mats.
Any version of quick, slip-on shoes will do great. It’s important to have something to slide on your feet when you exit the mats to avoid germs and bacteria spread to you and onto the mat to other students.
Brush your teeth.
You will be close to the other students. Just be mindful that bad breath might be undesirable for an hour of training!
Don’t train if you are sick.
It is easy to spread germs in this contact sport. Protect yourself and others by staying home if you know you are sick!
